Welcome to the El Bekal Clowns

The Clowns worked as a Group for six months under the jurisdiction of the Potentate and Shrine Office. At El Bekal's Stated Meeting in June 1964, Illustrious Potentate Roy T. Reynolds gave official recognition to the Group by making them a uniformed Unit of El Bekal Shrine.

We are one of the busiest and most active Units of El Bekal. We serve at the will and pleasure of the Potentate. We participate in Shrine functions, parades, ceremonials, Unit and Club activities, and various private appearances are requested through the Shrine. Other than Shrine functions, we participate in approximately ten to twenty functions per year.

Experienced members of our Unit train new clowns in make-up, costume, selecting a clown type, and in developing his special character. Each individual provides his own costume and make-up. To be a clown in our Unit, you don't need to have clowning experience. Only the desire to put a smile on a child's face and spread happiness and goodwill to all is needed.

We meet the third Monday of each month for a combined Business and Dinner Meeting. To join the Clown Unit, call the Shrine Office and they will tell you who to contact. The Initiation Fee is $25.00 and the Annual Dues are $15.00. We encourage you to join two clown groups, International Shrine Clown Association at $21.00 and the World Clown Association at $75.00.
