Our March event was a fun time at San Luis Rey Downs in Bonsal, CA, starting on March 15 and ending on March 17. Seventeen participated including seven ladies. A 3 best ball of five net tournament was played in the men’s division and the Ladies played a straight net game. The results were very close. In the men’s division the team of Dick Joyce, Joe Hammond, Tom Burnet, Dale Closson, and Don Sorsabal won with a score of 195, while close behind in second place with a score of 197 was the team of Russ Albright, Mike Black, Guest Terry Boduc, Bert Duncan, and Bill Miller. For those interested a score of 216 would be par for three players

In the Ladies Division Sondra Closson won with a net score of 80. In second place was Carol Albright with a net score of 81, followed closely in third place by Judy Burnet with a score of 82. In the Men’s Division, Tom Burnett had the best net score of 74. Joe Hammond was second with a net score of 81, closely followed by Dale Closson and Don Sorsabal both with net scores of 82’s.

Sondra Closson, Dale Closson, and Tom Burnett each won a closest to the pin. These holes were not easily reached by our golfers. The best gross score of 95 was recorded by Tom Burnett. Second place went to Don Sorsabal with a 98, and third to Dale Closson with a 101.

A great day was had by all. Of course on Sunday and Monday evenings the group enjoyed superb hospitality, hosted by the Clossons and the Sorsabals

Our April tournament will be played on April 21 at La Mirada Golf Club in La Mirada at 15501 E. Alicante Road in La Mirada. The April tournament will be a four-person Shamble. In June, it will be an individual gross & net tournament with closest to the pin payout at $1.00 per player and no greenies. BUT we will have a 1^st, 2^nd, & 3^rd pay out for the lowest number of putts.

LA County has increased the rate effective January 1. Our cost will now be $49.00 instead of the published price of $46.00 for each player.

The meeting will begin at 9:00 AM. The first tee time will be at 10:00. Space is limited to the first 24 players so complete the attached reservation form and return it to me, Don Sorsabal, 951 St. Andrews Dr., Upland CA 91784 together with your check by April 12. Remember that if no reservation is made and you decide to play and show up, the cost of play is increased by $5.00 (payable at the meeting).

Your roster is available and will be distributed at the meeting.

Starting positions this year will be based upon your net score for the previous month. The person with the best NET score will be in the lead foursome. Your tournament chairman will always be in the lead foursome because he must record the scores at the completion of the round. This means because Tom Burnett had the best net score at San Luis Rey Downs. He will be in the first group with your tournament chairman.

Reservations for the April Club Tournament should be received by me no later than April 12. Complete the following form and send to me with your check.
