It was scheduled as a mid-week event at a new venue, the Yucaipa Regional Park in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains. But too many of our regular campers had conflicts of one kind or another with the mid-week timing that resulted in us not having enough going to make the 10 rig minimum group number. This is a nice place and rather than lose our deposit, President Lash took them up on their offer to roll the deposit over to a date yet to be determined for next year. Our June campout is also a mid-week event due to the high weekend rates at the Chula Vista Marina RV Resort, but it is a popular venue with our group so we hope that it comes off OK. Gary McJilton will be the wagonmaster. July will see us at the Oceanside Elks Lodge campground during the last weekend of the month with Mel Hetzel as wagonmaster. Judy and I will miss both of these campouts, as we will be on a land/sea cruise in Alaska in June and at a Monaco motorhome rally in Oregon for that week in late July-early August. So I’ll have to count on someone else to take notes for me to write about. In August, Judy and I will be back in time to host the campout at Pechanga RV Resort in Temecula that we are looking forward to. The Nomads have camped there in years past, and it is a nice clean park with concrete parking pads and nice lush grass between the sites, a nice clubhouse to use and plenty of things to do besides visiting the Casino. But like an increasing number of places, they require a firm attendance count with names at least a month in advance, which is a real problem. So we’ll have to see how it goes and hope to get good attendance commitments a month in advance. And I guess we are getting close to vacation traveling time as even our attendance at the dinner meetings has dropped off. It wasn’t long ago that we were worried that we’d soon overflow the banquet room at the Huntington Beach Coco’s Restaurant, but this last meeting the attendance was down and we had over a dozen empty seats. So with our dinner attendance down a bit, now is the time to come visit and ask those questions that have you wondering if you could enjoy this lifestyle. Just give a call to our President, Bob Lash at (949) 498-5013 or our Vice President, Bob Martin at (714) 964-8503 and they’ll be glad to answer the easy questions. If you’d rather get a variety of answers, come to a dinner meeting on the second Tuesday of any month, but be sure and call Bob Martin for reservations before hand.
