Rad-Ops Shrine Club

El Bekal Shrine Rad-Ops ClubPresident: Arthur Meigs
Secretary: Bert Ekstrom
Liaison Officer: Dave Lindsay

Welcome to the Rad Ops Page

The purpose and objectives of the Rad-Ops Shrine Club are to promote Amateur Radio, good fellowship and harmony, and to foster a closer relationship with all of the concordant bodies of the Masonic Family. We engender good will to enhance our stature in the community. We provide emergency communications when needed and in particular, to fulfill our obligation to support all of the El Bekal Shrine programs and our Shriners Hospitals for Children.

A local two meter net is conducted on Thursday evenings at 8:00 p.m. on 145.400 MHz and any licensed HAM operator is welcome to participate. On Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m., children who are patients of the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Los Angeles are given an opportunity to talk on the radio and have their pictures taken. This is a very popular diversion for the children. This net can be found at 7238.5 MHz. Each year more of the Shrine Hospitals and Shrines are coming on the air with HAM radio stations. We now have coast to coast coverage.

The Rad-Ops have a complete amateur radio station at the El Bekal Shrine Center. We have the portable radio equipment to coordinate parade activities for the Shrine.

If you have ever thought that an amateur radio club would be a fun activity, let us know and we can get you started in a great hobby. The only other requirement you have to have to join this group is a willingness to associate with a great bunch of amateur radio operators and their lovely ladies. For information, email the listed contacts or call the Shrine office for telephone numbers of our officers.
