There will be any number of celebrations honoring our country's service men and women. Let us all be supportive of our troops. If you enjoy your freedom, thank a Veteran. Thanksgiving is Thursday the 26th, have a great day but please don't stuff yourself.
Thank you to all who attended our October Dinner meeting at Mimi's in Laguna Niguel. Our Prez had a conflicting obligation that precluded his attendance but we struggled, and I mean really struggled, through the meeting anyway. It will be good to have him back.
Nominations for Club Officers & Directors for the 2010 Shrine year where presented for the consideration of the Nobility. The November meeting will include the election, commonly referred to as the "Annual Railroad Job", for the Club Officers & Directors 2010. There will also be an opportunity to enter additional names in the election should you wish. This year's slate of Nominees:
President: Noble Terry Ake
1st Vice President: Noble Gary Peterson
2nd Vice President: Noble Steve Frogue

Please see the flyer and ticket order form enclosed. As there is the front end cost of the Concert tickets, we ask that you reply with your check as soon as possible.
Our Club will sponsor the November 30th Monday Night Football at the Center and we need your support and participation as we need to supply desserts. All the Dogs, Brats & Burgers you can eat, desserts plus drinks and lots of good fellowship all for just $5/person. Cooking starts at 5:00 PM. It's a FUN party, and CHEAP. Come on and have a good time. Games & gab for the non-footballers. This is good time to bring your friends and neighbors to the Center. Show up early and stay to the end to help us clean up and put the chairs away. All assistance would be greatly appreciated.
News from the El Bekal Shrine Center
The Fall Ceremonial will be November 6-8 at the Riverside Hotel in Laughlin, Nevada. There will be a "wet" bus to and from Laughlin that will depart the Center Friday morning the 6th at 9:00 AM returning Sunday mid-afternoon. All the details and the schedule appear in the El Bekalan or may be accessed on line at: elbekalshrine.com. We need Candidates. They keep them in Lodges. Petitions are available from the El Bekalan or online. While a goodly number of candidates are anticipated, there is always room for more. So, let's get those petitions in ASAP.
The Fall Hospital Fundraiser will be Friday, November 21st at the Center. This party is always a BLAST. The cost of dinner is just $15/person. The last time over $15,000 was donated to the Hospital. Let's hope we can do even better this time. There will be awards for all contributors but probably the biggest reward is in knowing that your donations are helping kids through the "World's Greatest Philanthropy", Shriner's Hospitals for Children. Look for your invitation & tickets in the mail. Mail in your order or call the Center @ 714/563-9111 for reservations.

While this isn't our regular dinner location, please come on out to this meeting to show your support our Ladies and their Fund Raising efforts. In the spooky spirit of Halloween, the Ladies of the Fez have made arrangements for a very special Pizza party to please your palate. Our Ladies request that you come dressed in your favorite black and orange Halloween attire and also an Outrageous Hat. There will be a contest for the most outrageously ridiculous hat. This is open to both Nobles and Ladies. Get creative, the more absurd, the better. Winners will receive a less than invaluable prize. There will be games the same as past years. All profits will go to the Shriner's Hospital. If you missed the party previously, you made a big mistake. Please don't repeat the error.
Thanks to all who joined us for our very raucous August meeting. I don't think I can recall laughing as much or as load as we did that evening. Our new venue continues to work well and has met with favorable comments. We sure had a good sized turn out and it all went well. We look forward to seeing you out to future dinner meetings.

Just a note to remind you that the Club Board of Directors unanimously decided that shorts would be acceptable attire, assuming you’ve got the legs for it, for the dinner meetings through September. It is also advised that long pants are likewise acceptable attire for the less courageous. A good excuse to dress like a tourist and show those knobby knees we’ve hidden all year long. Seriously, come in whatever you feel comfortable in. Let’s just have a good time.
