Dale Edwards, Sept. 1, 2010
It was a lovely day for the La Habra parade and the Lizzies turned out in force for the event. As usual, most of us met at Arthur’s Coffee Shop near the drop off point for breakfast and to then caravan over to unload the Lizzies. We had 9 cars in the parade, including one guest car driven by John Lake from Al Bahr. We also had four Lizzie Ladies on the parade sidelines. Only one car didn’t make it the whole length of the parade, and it was driven by Coy Love. It must have been fate since he was so smug about not only finishing the Garden Grove Parade in his borrowed Lizzie but he was able to push one of the faulty ones over the finish line. So it was divine justice that he had to be pushed the last quarter of the parade this time. After the parade, several of the attendees wandered over to Captain John’s house for lunch and a little libation. This was different than our usual routine since the Big Bear Parade, which usually follows the La Habra Parade, was cancelled this year for some reason. We usually drive directly up there after the La Habra Parade for a weekend of fun. So instead, Captain John and Judy E again offered up their home to the parade attendees plus a few more local and out-of-town Lizziers who didn’t quite make it to the parade. Needless to say, the fellowship was enjoyed by all. And that is one of the best parts of belonging to the Lizzies. They are active and they have fun. So if you are missing either of these aspects in your life, come join the Lizzies. But you need to participate to get any enjoyment out of it. We have Lizzie cars available for you to buy or borrow and lots of events coming up to add some spice to your life. So drop by one of our monthly meetings around 7 PM on the 2nd Monday of the month at the Shrine Center, or give a call to our Captain, John Edgmon at (714) 639-0337 or our Lieutenant, Rick Meadows, at (714) 534-5036 to get more specific information. |
